Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Planning your visit? Here’s everything you need to know about accessibility, tickets, gig types, what to bring, gig etiquette and other important venue information.
ACCESSIBILITY
Music is for everyone, and everyone is welcome at The Tivoli. We’ll always do our very best to support you.
ACCESSIBLE BOOKINGS
For wheelchair and carer tickets to Ticketmaster events, please call the Accessible Bookings line Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 1300 446 925. This number is reserved for patrons with accessibility requirements and Companion Card holders.
You can also submit a request via the Ticketmaster online form and select Accessible Bookings from the drop-down menu. Please complete all fields so the team can assist you properly.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
Wheelchair access is available via ramps at the front entrance. Please note the lower bar and mezzanine are not wheelchair accessible.
The closest accessible parking is on King Street. You’re welcome to unload directly out the front of the venue.
AMBULANT TOILETS
The toilet facilities at The Tivoli are ambulant only and are equipped with support rails to assist patrons with limited mobility. However, they are not fully wheelchair accessible. We apologise for any inconvenience and recommend contacting our team in advance if you have specific access requirements.
GENDERED TOILETS
The Tivoli has four bathrooms. The two in the main foyer area marked ‘Gents’ and ‘Ladies’ and two in the lower bar area marked ‘Gents’ and ‘Everybody’ - the 'Everybody' toilets contain eight cubicles that are able to be utilised by all.
The ‘Gents’ bathrooms are signed as such, because they include public (not enclosed) urinals and enclosed cubicles.
EXPLORE THE TIV
If you've never been to The Tiv before, or if it's been a while since your last gig, you might want to check out the space before your show. This 3D tour is also great if you're buying tickets to a seated show and you're unsure what area will be the best for you.
GIG ETIQUETTE
PLAYING IT COOL
We all know when someone isn’t being cool. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, pushing, invading personal space, shouting through quiet moments, drinking to excess. Not our vibe.
The Tiv is about the love. Love thy neighbour. Love thy bartender. Love thy music gods. We’re all here for a good time, together.
If something doesn’t feel right, let our team know.
PHONES
We’d like to raise a lighter to those who lower their phones. Nobody loves watching a gig through someone else’s screen.
Snap a pic, grab a moment, then pop it away and be here with us.
SMOKING & VAPING
No smoking or vaping inside the venue. It’s the law.
We have an outdoor smoking deck available, but drinks must stay inside. Please use the bins provided.
VANTAGE POINTS
The Tivoli has a flat floor. No rake, no tiers. That means we all need to work together.
If you want to be close to the stage, arrive early. If you’re tall, maybe be mindful of the legends behind you.
MOSHPITS
Due to the nature of specific genres of music we sometimes expect a high energy moshpit. If you are new to moshing or haven't experienced one before, we strongly advise against entering the pit. Your safety and the safety of others are paramount. There are plenty of great spots outside the mosh pit where you can enjoy the music.
If you are entering the mosh pit, please be respectful of others and mindful of the safety of those moshing alongside.
If you see anything inappropriate, feel unsafe, become injured or if someone is being overly aggressive please inform security or the venue staff immediately so that we can assist.
CROWD SURFING
We get it, sometimes you can get swept up in the moment. While as a venue we don't endorse crowd surfing or other risky activities, if it does occur while you are at the venue, please listen to the artist, venue team, security or fellow punters.
If you don't wish to participate in any form of crowd surfing or similar acts (including supporting or passing a crowd surfer), we strongly advise against positioning yourself at the front and centre of the stage, and if an activity begins that you'd rather not be a part of, that you move yourself to an area of the venue where you'll feel more comfy.
Please look out for yourself and others. If you or someone else needs assistance, notify security or the venue staff immediately so we can help.
ALL ABOUT TICKETS
Ticketmaster takes care of all our ticket sales for events in the main auditorium. We are licensed exclusively to them. Tickets to all What's Golden shows are sold through Moshtix.
DOOR SALES
If a show isn’t sold out, a limited number of tickets may be available at the Box Office on the night. We cannot hold tickets over the phone. First in, best dressed.
REFUNDS & RESELLING TICKETS
We do not offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind or illness.
If you can no longer attend, you can resell your ticket via Tixel. It is a safe and legitimate resale platform where tickets cannot be sold for more than 10% above face value.
SOLD OUT EVENTS
If an event is marked sold out, tickets are generally not available at the door. Occasionally promoter or media holds are released, but this cannot be predicted.
Join the waitlist via the event page to be notified if tickets are released. You can also try Tixel.
DIGITAL TICKETS
If you cannot access your ticket before arrival, visit the Box Office with photo ID and we can print it for you.
AFTERPAY
Want to come to a gig but you don't get paid 'till next week? No sweat! Ticketmaster accepts Afterpay, which allows you to pay for your tickets in four instalments every two weeks, interest free.
SCALPING & TICKET SCAMS
Ok listen up folks! Really important information here… we've had some really sad people get scammed on their tickets and we really don’t want that to happen to you.
Resale sites such as Viagogo, Ticket Merchant and Stubhub are not official resellers and are not endorsed by us.
It is very possible that you will be substantially overcharged and that the tickets may not even be valid. If you purchase tickets through this avenue, you do so entirely at your own risk and there is nothing we can do to help you if your ticket doesn't scan. Trust us - it happens at every show and it sucks. If it doesn’t scan, then you’ve been scammed.
Do NOT buy tickets from someone in the comments on Facebook. You will be scammed.
The only legitimate place to buy resale tickets, or sell your tickets if you can't make the show, other than Ticketmaster, is Tixel.
GIG TYPES
We host a wide range of events. Age restrictions are determined by the promoter/artist. We do not check ID at purchase, but we do check at the door.
GENERAL ADMISSION STANDING - OVER 18S ONLY
There is no allocated seating at this type of gig. Get to the venue early so you can find a great location for you and your buddies. Sorry kids, ‘Over 18s Only’ means minors aren’t allowed full stop, not even with a guardian, and this includes babies. The age listed on the website is bible, you don't need to call us to double check.
If you're worried about being on your feet for such a long period of time, don't be. We have couches and stools throughout the venue for your comfort.
GENERAL ADMISSION STANDING - LICENSED ALL AGES (6+ Only)
These gigs are similar to the above, but young folk under 18 are allowed. For these events we'll have an area that's unlicensed upstairs on the mezzanine, and a 18+, licensed area downstairs. For these events we'll always have more security on to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time. It is recommended those aged 6-13 attend with a parent or guardian.
We have a no babes in arms policy. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted in the venue. Each human over the age of 6 attending a seated gig needs a ticket.
RESERVED SEATING - LICENSED ALL AGES (6+ Only)
You will be allocated a seat at the point of sale. If you’re coming with friends, best buy your tickets together. Seating plans change for every event, so check it at the point of sale on the Ticketmaster website. Alcohol will be served at the event but our staff reserve the right to check your ID at the time of purchase. Even though your teenager may be a well adjusted young human, the law is the law and no alcohol may be bought for them whatsoever.

Persons under the age of 18 are not permitted in the venue and you will be asked to provide ID at the door.
GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING
These events have un-allocated seating meaning first in, best dressed. We recommend getting here a little early if you want to sit close to the front.
ALL AGES ALCOHOL FREE EVENT
Everyone is welcome here, but there’s no grog and no ciggies or vapes.
You won’t be asked for proof of age at the door, but if you’re found consuming alcohol, cigarettes or vapes then you’ll be asked to leave. Also, if you are seen to be drinking alcohol directly outside the venue, you will not be permitted in to the venue. If you’re thirsty we provide a range of non-alcoholic beverages, tea and coffee for sale. Water is free and recommended by doctors the world over. Most all ages gigs wrap by 10pm.
WHAT TO BRING
YOUR TICKET
Yeah, don’t forget your ticket. We can’t let you in without your ticket, but if you have forgotten it or you're unable to show it on your phone, you can ask the Box Office to print you a new one.
DRESS CODE
No steel caps or thongs (flip flops) permitted for your safety. Other than that, just be comfortable and happy. Shorts, hats, skirts, heels, sneakers, crocs, birks, etc. are all fine.
PHOTO ID
All patrons in possession of an 18+ ticket will need to show some form of photo ID to gain entry to the venue. A physical drivers licence, 18+ card and passport are all acceptable forms of physical photo ID, as is a digital licence through the QLD Digital Licence app. You can read more info about digital licences here.
MERCH
Some bands love to sell merchandise. Most accept cash and card.
NO CLOAK ROOM
Since nobody wears cloaks anymore (and it's Brisbane) we don’t have a cloak room. What you bring with you must stay with you during the event and you’re responsible for the care of your own stuff. Big bags are fine, but you'll have to carry it around all night. Try not to lose your things while having all the fun!
NO PROFESSIONAL CAMERAS
Everyone has a smartphone, right? Please leave your professional equipment at home. Including but not limited to DSLRs, camcorders, cinema cameras, polaroids, disposable cameras, 360-degree cameras, broadcast cameras and professional microphones . They will not be accepted into the event unless you have an official photographer’s pass.
LOST & FOUND
If you’ve lost your stuff, and it’s been handed in, we’ll happily hand it back. Call us Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm on 3852 1711 or message us on Facebook to see if we have your goods.
VENUE INFO
YOUR SAFETY
The Tivoli puts the safety and well-being of our patrons as a number one priority. However from time to time incidents occur in the venue that are out of our control. Guests who attend events at The Tivoli do so at their own risk and The Tivoli will not held liable for such incidents. We encourage guests to be highly communicative with our staff in any instance where a someone's safety is put in jeopardy.
DOORS OPEN
Doors open at the time on your ticket. Come and enjoy a bev or two with us before the gig. If you can’t wait, then we can recommend King Street as the closest place to kick-start your night. More information about what you can do before and after the show can be found on our What's Around page.
QUEUES
Sometimes there are queues down the street. The early bird gets the worm.
FOOD
The Tiv does not currently have food available for purchase, so we encourage you to eat beforehand, or check out what's around the venue here.
PARKING
There is no on-site parking at The Tivoli. You can find some on-street parking in the surrounding areas but it’s pretty limited. There is a undercover car park off King Street and a Secure Car Park close by on Alfred Street.
Public transport is generally an excellent option too.
SET TIMES
Please make sure to check the door and start time of your show to ensure you don't miss a thing. We advise you to arrive close to the door time to grab the best spot in the house.
END TIME
Mum’s picking me up, what time should I tell her? We can only estimate the finish time of an event because sometime artists just love to keep blowing our minds for hours. Bedtime for all ages gigs is usually 10pm. 18+ events wrap anytime between 11pm and 2am.
WATER
We have free water. Stay hydrated folks!
